That was the central message delivered during the recent Connecting Entrepreneurial Communities (CEC) Conference session “Building Better Neighborhoods, Building Better Business” held at the Elms Hotel.

The future of Excelsior Springs’ western edge now hinges on a November ballot question that could redraw city limits and determine who controls key corridors for development and infrastructure. City officials hosted a public listening session to explain the proposed annexation, which would add more than 50 parcels and several roadways between Cameron and Rhodus roads in unincorporated Clay County.

A red zone stand helped Excelsior Springs secure its first win of the varsity 11-man football season. As coach Jake Danneman recalled Monday, the Tigers led Raytown South 9-6 late in the fourth quarter, but the Cardinals were threatening to score.
