State leaders suggest public should pay for public records

Missourians in 1973 could have felt secure that the then-newly approved state Sunshine Law made public records and meetings easy to access, but today’s lawmakers often bare their hairy assertions of ignorance, if not outright contempt for the Sunshine Law.

From its beginning in 1918, Russian Communists led by Lenin and then Stalin sought to control populations by intimidation, brutality and death. Lenin murdered 6 million people and Stalin three times as many. During Stalin’s reign from 1925 to 1953, Communism spread to Eastern Europe, China, North Korea, Vietnam and Cuba. President Reagan referred to the USSR as the “evil empire,” and President Eisenhower stated the Soviet government believed in the “force of huge armies, subversion and rule of neighboring nations.”

ES bowlers tie for 2nd

LEE’S SUMMIT – Excelsior Springs rolled its way to a tie for second place in February in a club bowling tournament at Summit Lanes in Lee’s Summit. The Tigers rolled a 289 in their first game, then followed that with a 231.

Ashworth places sixth at juco nationals

WORTHINGTON, Minnesota – An Excelsior Springs High School graduate continues to experience success as a wrestler in junior college. Damon Ashworth, who graduated in 2021, just finished his freshman season at Minnesota West Community and Technical College as a juco All-American.

Jimmie Dale Frost, Jr., 58, of Rayville, MO passed away on March 3, 2022. Mr. Frost was born Sept. 2, 1963, in Jackson County, MO.
Jimmie loved to ride motorcycles, go fishing, tell stories, sing and help others.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmie Dale Frost, Sr.; mother, Charlene Pearl Scott; and brother Richard Dye.
