Scout completes pet pantry project

LIBERTY – Bubbles, music and rain filled the air around the Clay County Courthouse June 4 during the county’s 200th birthday celebration. The scattered showers did not sway hundreds of people from attending the event, hosted by the Clay County Bicentennial Commission and Historic Downtown Liberty Inc.

Hospital in ‘thrive mode,’ DeHart reports

PART II OF II EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Excelsior Springs Hospital is in “thrive mode,” particularly financially, CEO Kristen DeHart told city leaders when sharing the hospital’s 2021 report during the City’s Council’s May 16 meeting at the Hall of Waters. In 2021, DeHart “was thinking it was a little premature to say ‘thrive,’” but she assured that data supported the term.

Banister named Waterfest grand marshal

Waterfest 2022 is just three weeks away, and one Excelsior native is especially excited. Kisha (Henry) Banister will be recognized as Waterfest’s grand marshal during the parade at 9:30 a.m.
KISHA BANISTER, former news anchor, will lead the Waterfest Parade June 25.

Bales joins Excelsior Standard writing staff

The Excelsior Springs Standard welcomes Sophia Bales, a 2022 Missouri Valley College graduate, to its staff as a newsroom reporter. “I was very excited - over the moon (about accepting this position)… When I was younger, I always knew that I wanted to write,” said Bales.

Replacing Lewis still in school district’s long-term plan

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Incite Design Studio is standing firm on its recommendation to replace Lewis Elementary School. Based in the Kansas City metro area, Incite is the architectural firm working with the Excelsior Springs School District on its long-range facility planning.
INCITE DESIGN STUDIO illustrates one possible solution to constructing a new Lewis Elementary School by building the new facility behind the old, then demolishing the old structure once the new facility is in operation.

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Summertime, or offseason, football training is underway at Excelsior Springs High School. The Tigers began offseason training on May 31 with summer weights and conditioning work.
