Laura Mize of the Excelsior Springs Community Development Department presented a resolution on Aug. 15 to the City Council regarding a partnership among the city, Rebuilding Together KC Inc. and Northland Neighborhoods Inc. to provide a minor home repair program for Excelsior Springs residents.

On Aug. 11, about 200 people gathered at The Elms Hotel and Spa to receive some pampering – and to help Excelsior Springs School District students.

Three new teachers have joined the Excelsior Springs High School for the 2022-23 school year. Katherine Jacobsen, Lennon Puls and Stephen Houck are the faculty members.

The FBI continues to investigate a bomb left on Aug. 8 off of Route OO outside of the Tactical Airsoft Base at 32337 W.

Excelsior Springs has some more money to devote to road infrastructure – $21.5 million, to be exact. The city recently announced the federal government is directing that amount to Excelsior Springs through the Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) grant program.

From Aug. 2 to 4, the “Galz of 55” got a look at Excelsior Springs for one last time.

On Aug. 8, the Excelsior Springs School District honored four women who had helped prep district buildings for the 2022-23 school year.

Anthony Berry had some words of warning about Lewis Elementary’s plumbing infrastructure on Aug. 8, when the Excelsior Springs Board of Education met at the Support Services Center.

Excelsior Springs is youth-heavy this season in high school volleyball. Of the 25 players in the program, only three are seniors.

A group of returning netters has Excelsior Springs tennis coach Richie Marsh excited about this fall. “Our fans can expect to see our girls competing from start to the end,” said Marsh, who’s in his 12th season leading the program.
