Restoration progress on the Hall of Waters

Body
PRESENT Excelsior Springs received a matching grant in 2020 for $500,000, with the city providing an additional $500,000 to repair the Hall of Waters. Originally, it was going to do things like fix the rush jacking on the two front doors, fix the tower, clean all of the rock and redo tuckpointing, said Melinda Mehaffy, economic development director for the city.
THE ONLY REMAINING POOL in the Hall of Waters is filled with $30,000 of scaffolding. The pool will be the next part of the construction, where issues such as delamination of the concrete ceiling will take place. TARA ALTIS | Staff

Children spend morning shopping with law enforcement

Body
Several local children were able to shop for Christmas gifts with an Excelsior Springs law enforcement officer through the Shop with a Cop program. “Shop with a Cop is a program that allows local law enforcement officers and children in our community to develop a relationship that will make a difference in both of their lives and last a lifetime,” said Excelsior Springs Sgt.
A NEW BARBIE TRUCK is coming home with Esmeralda Fox, left. Michela Fox and Sgt. Scott Sickles assist Fox with the selection during Shop with a Cop. TARA ALTIS | Staff
