Tigers sweep Highway 92 Meet

Excelsior Springs made a clean sweep of the Highway 92 Meet. The Tigers won the boys portion of the track and field competition, held April 13 at Tiger Stadium, with 266.5 points – 124.5 points ahead of runner-up Lathrop.

ES golfers take second at ’Tonka triangular

Jacob Schmidt and his Excelsior Springs varsity boys golf teammates fought through the elements when they played in an April 13 triangular hosted by Winnetonka at Hodge Park Golf Club in Kansas City. Schmidt managed the weather well enough to place second overall with a nine-hole round of 41.

Excelsior Springs Police Department has welcomed a new officer

The Excelsior Springs Police Department has welcomed a new officer to the force, Scott Van Voorhees. 

Van Voorhees was sworn in at the Hall of Waters on April 3, and was welcomed by the police department when Lieutenant Ryan Dowdy stated, “Scott comes to us with prior law enforcement experience and will be a great addition to our team.”

SAFE offers help where it counts

The monthly Substance Abuse Free Environment meeting (SAFE) at Excelsior Springs Hospital was held recently. SAFE, a prevention coalition that partners with Excelsior Springs Hospital, is for those passionate about creating healthy safe environments for youth around the tri-county region.

Bond reduced again for Gillispie

Gary W. Gillispie II appeared in person, in custody, for a bond reduction hearing recently in the Seventh Judicial Circuit Court in Clay County. The 38-year-old Excelsior Springs resident is charged with one class B felony of trafficking in the second degree.
