New sign honors John Shepherd’s legacy

After the Excelsior Springs City Council’s tribute to the esteemed retired high school coach John Shepherd in January, Leavenworth Street has been proudly renamed Honorary Coach John Shepherd Way and the sign has now been officially installed to honor his legacy.

Offense powers ES to title

Excelsior Springs varsity softball coach Megan Gilbert and her Tigers already have a championship under their belts this season – still less than a week old. By scoring 41 runs and pounding out 40 hits, Excelsior Springs went 4-0 and claimed the Cameron Tournament championship Aug 31.
