District implements 90-day academic plan

Following the release of the Annual Performance Report (APR) results in November 2025, the Excelsior Springs School District has begun implementing a structured 90day academic plan to strengthen assessment practices and accelerate student growth before spring testing.

Election board seeks court guidance in annexation dispute

The annexation dispute between Excelsior Springs and Mosby has expanded yet again, with county election officials asking a judge for guidance as to voting locations for residents affected by the contested boundaries ahead of an upcoming municipal election. The request was followed by a temporary court stay order of both cities’ annexation ordinances and election results while the lawsuit proceeds.

City Council appoints Mehaffey as city manager

Legislators open scholarship for female seniors

The Women Legislators of Missouri (WLM) Caucus, a bipartisan group of women House and Senate members, has announced its annual education scholarship program for female high school seniors. The WLM scholarship program was established to support the higher education goals of female high school seniors.

Health policy approach looks beyond medical care

Excelsior Springs Substance Abuse Free Environments (SAFE) members were recently introduced to a framework encouraging communities to consider health impacts when making policy decisions. The program, titled “Health in All Policies,” was presented by Lauren Crome, a health policy analyst with the Clay County Public Health Center, and outlined ways social, economic and environmental conditions can shape health outcomes across a community.
