The Excelsior Springs Police Department reported the following arrests handled recently by the department. Wednesday, April 29 At 10:31 a.m., David Shafer Jr., 30, was arrested for disobeying lawful order.

During his year at Excelsior Springs High School (ESHS), Booker O’Neill made a noteworthy impression on campus, according to Doug Baker, district athletic director. Now, O’Neill hopes to make a noteworthy impression at Baker University, where he has signed to play for the men’s basketball program.

City recognizes Mental Health Awareness Month

City leaders recently recognized Mental Health Awareness Month with a proclamation emphasizing the way mental health affects individuals, families and the broader community. Mayor Sonya Morgan presented a proclamation during a recent city council meeting, recognizing May 2026 as Mental Health Awareness Month to Excelsior Springs Hospital Psychiatric Services staff member Brenda Wilzbach.
