O’Neill heads to Baker after short ESHS career

During his year at Excelsior Springs High School (ESHS), Booker O’Neill made a noteworthy impression on campus, according to Doug Baker, district athletic director. Now, O’Neill hopes to make a noteworthy impression at Baker University, where he has signed to play for the men’s basketball program.

CONTENDER Lane Overholtzer contended for a state title in boys golf this week. The Excelsior Springs junior placed eighth at the Class 3 state tournament, held Monday and Tuesday at the Sedalia Country Club.

The Excelsior Springs Police Department reported the following arrests handled recently by the department. Wednesday, April 29 At 10:31 a.m., David Shafer Jr., 30, was arrested for disobeying lawful order.

Grants sought for downtown revitalization

Excelsior Springs city officials are pursuing a proposed $750,000 state grant for downtown revitalization aimed at helping preserve historic commercial buildings while supporting tourism, economic development and long-term investment in the downtown district.

Tigers reach district final again

Brody Querry and seven of his teammates were looking to continue their senior season of Excelsior Springs varsity baseball this week. The Tigers were slated to play Oak Grove Wedensday at Excelsior Springs for the Class 4 District 15 Tournament title, with the winner to advance to sectionals.
