SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS and highschool cheerleaders were on hand for the ribbon cutting at Lewis Elementary, marking the opening of the school.“The Excelsior Springs School District (ESSD) has completed construction of Lewis Elementary and Cornerstone Elementary without raising the tax rate to do so,” said ESSD Superintendent Jaret Tomlinson. “We have completed a transformation of our schools throughout our community.The school district has not raised the tax rate in 20 years, but now is the time to put a tax increase on the April ballot to see if the community will support higher wages and benefits for teachers, classified staff and school administration, so that we can recruit and retain the best education professionals for our students.”...
