Council welcomes new police chief to Excelsior Springs
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The city has welcomed a new police chief, Greg Dull.
Dull succeeds interim Chief Chris Weber, who stepped down Dec. 31. Dull joins the department after serving with the Township of Ocean Police Department in Monmouth County, New Jersey; and then serving 31 years in various posts with the Kansas City Police Department, where he became a major and retired.
“I actually attended a couple of council meetings when I was going through the hiring process just to get a feel for the City Council and kind of … how those meetings all go,” he said Jan. 11.
Council and community support of the department influenced Dull to take the job, he said.
“It’s a huge thing, in my opinion, to have that support.
… I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve as chief here and enjoy that support from the City Council,” Dull said.
Dull is meeting his longtime goal to be a chief, he said.
