Firm gives district ‘clean audit’ finding
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Board of Education received what accountant Brad Steele called “a good sign” Dec. 14.
Steele presented the board with Westbrook & Co. LLC’s district audit results for the 2019-20 school year. Overall, the district “had a clean audit,” he said.
“That’s what the bonding company’s going to be looking for,” Steele said. “That’s what DESE’s (Department of Elementary and Secondary Education) going to be looking for. Anybody that sees your audit, they’re going to look and see if you had a clean audit – and you did.”
The district “had a very good year financially,” Steele said. That was reflected in the $1.2 million “positive change” in operational finances, he said.
District and Westbrook records show a $1,288,769 “net change” in the district’s general fund, which started with $8,533,054 and ended with $9,821,823....
