Excelsior Springs Mayor Mark Spohn is calling for a ceasefire after recent tensions escalated within the community.Tensions escalated during a recent city council meeting as two residents voiced their objections to Mayor Pro-Tem Stephen Spear’sinvolvement in promoting a petition demanding the resignation of local school board member Troy Snelling.In the wake of not only their comments but also a series of derogatory remarks made by various community members directed towards Spear and one another, Spohn intervened. He appealed for a “cease-fire” among residents, urging the community to move away from divisive rhetoric and to foster a more respectful dialogue moving forward.Local resident Shawna Mull took the floor to object to Spear’s actions formally.
