EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Patrons and volunteers occupied every row among rummage sale tables filling the expansive floor of the former Excelsior Trust/Boatman’s Bank building at South Street and Thompson Avenue. From mirrors to hammers, shotglasses to dolls, sale items appealed to a wide spectrum of visitors. Patron Heidi Emery bought silvery, shiny salt and pepper shakers that are not intended for her dinner table. “I’m going to turn them into a windchime, and we’ll put old spoons around them,” Emery said, tapping together the shakers to produce a clear ring. “Hear the sound? That’s how we make Christmas gifts.” Taking a moment’s rest from overseeing the annual fundraiser, Deb Foster sat in a wingback chair while discussing the rummage sale for the Excelsior Springs Museum.
