Quarry fight escalates with calls for action
Residents near the Ideker Mining operation around Mosby pressed Clay County officials for assistance during the commissioners regular meeting recently. The community members cited months of blasting, dust and property damage that have left them feeling neglected by local authorities. A Missouri state representative has stepped in to support them, pledging to help pursue reforms at the state level.The residents described many complaints to Mosby officials and limited responses from state inspectors, as well as uncertainty as to whether Excelsior Springs or the county itself could finally intervene.More than a dozen speakers took turns outlining damage and fear they linked to the mining currently taking place under David Rhodus’ property.
