The Excelsior Springs Parks and Recreation Department has received a scrap tire grant, allowing the department to replace picnic tables at Siloam Mountain Park. The grant, made available from Missouri Department of Natural Resources, will also provide for a handicap accessible picnic table to be placed at each gazabo in the park. The new picnic tables will be manufactured of at least 40 percent Missourigenerated scrap tires or the equivalent of at least 20 Missouri tires and the equivalent of at least 3,800 gallon milk jugs in each picnic table, keeping the tires and milk cartons out of landfills.
