ESHS grappler eyes career as tradesman
Micah Danner knows what he wants to do after his high school wrestling career ends – and after high school ends, period.
The Excelsior Springs senior plans to utilize the skills he has learned at the Excelsior Springs Career Center to become a tradesman. He has spent the past year-and-a-half in the electrical trades program at the center.
In keeping with Danner’s interest in the electrical trades as a field of study, his favorite teacher has been Ed Gouldsmith, the electrical trades instructor at the center, he said.
“Mister Gouldsmith is a great teacher who always makes sure students know what they are doing and are doing things the right way,” Danner said.
Gouldsmith’s guidance has put Linn State Technical College in Danner’s plans. After completing his program there, Danner plans to become an electrical lineman, he said.
But before pursuing his trade, Danner is pursuing another trip to state in wrestling. A three-time state qualifier who placed fourth in the Class 2 state…
