Excelsior Springs has a new head varsity softball coach as the school district enters a new athletic conference.

Kristal Reeves succeeds Megan Gilbertson and will formally make her debut as coach Sept. 1, when the Tigers also make their Midland Empire Conference debut on the road against Cameron.

She has coached club softball the past five years.
