Charles T. “Buddy” Day, 95, of Henrietta, died Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at Lafayette Regional Health Center in Lexington.

Buddy was born on Feb. 23, 1926, in Henrietta, the son of Charles L. and Ella L. (Vogt) Day. He was united in marriage to Alice June Standefer of Henrietta on March 25, 1949. She preceded him in death on March 25, 2014, on their 65th wedding anniversary.

Survivors include two sons, Dennis (Pamela) Day of Hickory Creek, Texas, and Charles (Rita) Day of Henrietta; a daughter, Lorri (Todd) Klocke of Richmond; five grandchildren, Stephen (Katie) Day, Emily Day, Andy Day, Maria Beck and Aaron (Heather) Trindle; nine great-grandchildren, Neiman Day, Nash Day, Shelby Day, Kyle Day, Aiden Beck, Addison Beck, Cooper Trindle, Stella Trindle and Emersyn Trindle; a great-great-grandson, Brentley Ashby; and a brother, Kenneth (Joann) Day of Independence.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, John A. Day; and granddaughter-in-law, Roylynna Day.

Buddy was reared and educated in Henrietta and graduated from Henrietta High School. After high school, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

Buddy worked for 30 years for Ford Motor Co. in Claycomo. He was a proud member of the United Auto Workers Local 249.

Buddy was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, especially turkey and deer hunting. He shot his last deer at age 93. Buddy also enjoyed fishing. He was passionate about building and flying model airplanes. Most of all, he enjoyed his time spent with his family and telling them all his stories.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the charity of your choice in Buddy’s memory. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 E. Main St.-P.O. Box 190; Richmond, MO 64085.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 26, in Richmond Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 25, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond.
