Danny Lee Russell passed away on Aug. 11, 2021. He was born on Aug. 5, 1946, to Howard and Wanda (Pierson) Russell in Excelsior Springs. Danny worked for Gilmour Manufacturing Company, formerly Avsco, for 39 years, retiring in 2008. He enjoyed gardening, family time, and going to the lake.  

Danny married Linda Barbee on Oct. 2, 1970, who resides at their home in Excelsior Springs. He is also survived by his daughters, Shelley Simmons and son-in law Jeremy of Excelsior Springs and Missy Taber of Lawson; grandchildren, Quinton and Drake Simmons and Olivia and Lindsay Taber; and pets Jackson, Allie, and Felix.  

Danny served in the U.S. Army as a SP4 and served one year in Vietnam as a Combat Engineer earning many medals including Vietnam Service Medal with 5 Bronze Service Stars.  

He is also survived by sisters, Linda Farrell (Mike) and Penny Connors (Dana); brother, Duane Russell; and brother-in-law, John Ferguson, all of Iowa; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Candie, Bruce, Vickie and Steve.
