David Henry Schjoll, 78, of Orrick, Missouri, passed away early Wednesday morning, June 17, 2020, at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond, Missouri, following a lengthy illness.

David was born on Jan. 7, 1942, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Derwood Horace Schjoll and Elaine Juliet (Jardet) Schjoll. David had lived in numerous states before moving to the Orrick area in 1984.

He had served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict and was honorably discharged on March 30, 1967. He was united in marriage on Dec. 18, 1976, to Diana Christina Smith, who survives him. David had worked for Ford Motor Co. for 30 years and retired in 1997.

Some of David’s favorite things to do were drinking beer, barbeque grilling, fishing, hunting and anything to do in the great outdoors.

David was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Denise Schjoll; and two brothers, Mike Schjoll and Wayne Schjoll.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Diana Schjoll, of the home in Orrick. His daughters, Lori Schulze and husband Greg of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Virginia Foote of Richmond; his son, David Schjoll Jr. of Indianapolis, Indiana; brothers, Richard Schjoll of Madras, Oregon, and Art Schjoll of Pineville, Oregon; and a sister, Sharon Newberg, of Fairfield, Connecticut.

He is also survived by eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Memorial visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 25, 2020.

Memorial services will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Gowing funeral home in Orrick.

Inurnment with military honors will follow at South Point Cemetery near Orrick.
