Delores J. Hughes, 82, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2021, at the Valley Manor Center in Excelsior Springs, MO.  She was born on Sept. 5, 1939, in Scott City, KS, the daughter of Lee L. And Gertrude V. Cauthon Brown.  Delores graduated from Scott Community High School in 1957 and moved to Kansas City, MO until 1975, moving to Excelsior Springs, MO.

Delores worked for Dr. Ed Hunter for over 30 years as a Dental Hygienist and she and her husband owned and operated Buddy Hughes Chevrolet-Buick, Inc. and then later ReCon Auto Repair all in Excelsior Springs, MO.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Scott City, KS.

On Dec. 29, 1960, she married Paul R. Hughes in Scott City, KS.  He passed away on June 5, 2004, in Liberty, MO.

Survivors include her one brother, Larry and Susan Brown of Scott City, KS; and two nieces, Cherie and Tony Kardelis of Lakewood, CO, and Kori and Sage Davis of Scott City, KS.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, 2021, at Price and Sons Funeral Home, 401 S. Washington St., Scott City, KS.

Graveside Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, 2021, at the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, KS with Pastor Steve Payne presiding.

Interment will be in the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, KS.
