Floyd Keith Claypole, 86, of Chuckey, Tenn., formerly of Excelsior Springs, passed away Sept. 13, 2024, after a long illness.

Floyd accepted Christ as his savior at age 73 and was baptized into the church.

His parents, Floyd Claypole and Ethel Brinkley Wood; sister, Margaret King; and brother, Roy Lee Claypole, preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy; and one daughter, Robin Tanner, and her husband, Dr. Edward Tanner. Other survivors include three grandchildren, Robert Tanner and his wife Michele of St. Johns, Fla.; Rebekah Serge and her husband Dominick of St. Johns; and Rachel Tanner and her partner Jess of Jacksonville, Fla.

Floyd also is survived by four great-grandchildren: Jacob Tanner, Abigail Tanner, Caleb Serge and Gracelynn Serge, all of St. Johns. In addition, he leaves behind one sister, Linda Fox of Orrick.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery.
