Gregory Lynn Carroll
Gregory Lynn Carroll, 66, of Lawson, MO passed away Sunday, July 11, 2021, at North Kansas City Hospital in North Kansas City, MO. Greg was born on Feb. 26, 1955, the son of William “Bill” and Bonnie (Marley) Carroll in Excelsior Springs, MO.
Greg grew up in Excelsior Springs and graduated from Excelsior Springs High School in 1973. He then obtained a bachelor’s degree in pastoral ministry from Calvary Bible College in 1977. On July 31, 1999, he was united in marriage to Glenda McCubbin at Bethel Church.
Greg worked for Excelsior Springs Job Corps for 25 years, first in maintenance and then as a residential advisor. Early in his ministry he served the Whitebreast Christian Union Church in Chariton, IA and as the camp director at Jericho Hills Christian Union Camp in Lucas, IA. Greg also served as the youth and assistant pastor of Vibbard Christian Union Church.
Currently, he served as the pastor at Bethel Church, a position he held since 1996. Greg has also served as the treasurer for the State of Missouri’s Heartland Christian Association of Churches (Christian Union) for over 30 years. He loved the Lord and was dedicated to His ministry.
Greg cared about people and was an encourager. He loved his family. Greg was a Royals and Chiefs fan. He enjoyed fantasy sports and board games and playing golf.
During Greg’s youth, he played baseball, basketball and was in Boy Scouts, achieving the Eagle Scout rank. Greg wrote poetry, stories, songs and plays. He was a published author and had just finished writing a children’s book. Greg will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and church.
Greg was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Haven Carroll; nephew, Jarrod Carroll; and father-in-law, Charles McCubbin.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda of the home; children, Corrie (Kenneth) Vail of Freeman, MO, Nathan (Ashley) Carroll of Lawson, Jeromy (Stephanie) Hayes of Excelsior Springs, Jessica Rhodus of Kearney and Jason (Rhonda) Hayes of Storm Lake, IA; brother, Richard Carroll of Lee’s Summit, MO; grandchildren, Kaitlin, Kaylee, Alexander, Brayden, Trevor, Bailey, Maximus, Madison, Case, Maverick, Luke and Tyler; mother-in-law, Bonnie McCubbin of Knoxville, MO; nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members survive.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Bethel Church in care of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m., Friday, July 16, 2021, at Flack Memorial Christian Church in Excelsior Springs, MO. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services at Bethel Cemetery south of Polo.
