James L. McCubbin, 93, of Lawson passed away Jan. 20, 2025.

A visitation was scheduled for 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, at Hidden Valley Funeral Home of Excelsior Springs. Funeral services and military honors were to begin at 2 at Hidden Valley Funeral Home of Excelsior Springs, with burial to follow at Bethel Cemetery, Polo.

Mr. McCubbin was born Feb. 2, 1931, in Knoxville. James enjoyed many hobbies, which included beekeeping; genealogy; going to auctions and garage sales; and raising cattle, sheep and chickens on his farm. He also loved singing holiday Christmas songs with his grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Mc-Cubbin, who passed Dec. 24, 2024; parents; sisters, Dorothy Tackett and Mary Frances Reynolds; brothers, Elwyn Griffin and Charles McCubbin; and infant brother, John McCubbin, as well as several half-siblings.

Survivors include his sons, Lory (Tina) McCubbin, Stephen (Julie Miller) McCubbin, John McCubbin and David (Mellie) McCubbin; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
