Lamoine G. Harms, 81, formerly of Excelsior Springs, passed away Friday, May 23, 2025, at WEL-Life Assisted Living in Kearney, Neb.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 30, at Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery, south of Hildreth, Neb., with Rev. Caroline Schenk officiating. Military honors will be presented by the Hildreth VFW, in conjunction with the U.S. Army Funeral Honors Team.

There will be no visitation.

Memorials in Lamoine’s honor are kindly suggested to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the care of Craig Funeral Home in Minden, Neb.

Lamoine Gerald Harms was born May 9, 1944, in Minden to Albert and Minnie (Osterbuhr) Harms. He grew up in the Hildreth area and received his education from Hildreth Public School.

Lamoine faithfully served his country in the Army from 1967 until being honorably discharged in 1971.

He resided in Missouri for more than 50 years before moving back to Nebraska because of his declining health.

He was employed by Ford Motor Co. for 44 years before retiring.

Lamoine was a member of the Excelsior Springs VFW and the United Auto Workers. He loved Harley Davidson motorcycles; and restoring engines, cars and pickups.

In addition, Lamoine enjoyed making homemade potato chips and peanut brittle, and sharing them with family and friends. His favorite pastime was hanging out with his friends in his garage, frying up Rocky Mountain oysters and fish, and having cream can suppers. He enjoyed playing the game “Tonk” for quarters as well.

Those left to cherish his memory include his nieces, Diana (Larry) Hill, North Platte, Neb.; Deanna Neighbors, Longmont, Colo.; Devri (Mark) Walker, Columbia, Tenn.; Debbie (Brent) Harms, Wilcox, Neb.; Lori (Craig) Tripe, Alma, Neb.; Kari (David) Kelley, Bloomington Ill.; and Juli (Dennis) Byrne, Gibbon, Neb.

Other survivors include his nephews, Mike Johnson, Wilcox; Jammie (Shawni) Wright, Elm Creek, Neb.; and Jeffrey Wright. He also is survived by many greatnieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Harms of North Platte.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Delbert Harms; sisters, Lorraine Johnson and husband Eugene, Diane Albright and husband Dale; niece, Denine Harms; and nephews, Donny Harms and Stan Neighbors.
