MARYLIST LOUISE GEORGE
Marylist Louise George, 92, a lifelong resident of Excelsior Springs, passed away Oct. 17, 2023.
Graveside services were held on Tuesday, Oct. 24, at White Chapel Cemetery in Gladstone.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Clay County Archives and Historical Library or a charity of your choice.
Marylist was born Aug. 15, 1931, in Excelsior Springs to Van and Ella May Dillen. She eloped with the love of her life, L.C. George Jr., in October 1948.
Marylist graduated from Excelsior Springs High School.
She and her husband L.C. were lifelong partners, raising a family and managing a family farm, which included livestock and crops. They raised two children, Nancy and L.C. III; and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was her greatest joy.
Marylist was an avid reader, often reading a book every day; and she enjoyed watching sports on television.
Marylist was a member of the Union Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband of 71 years, L.C. George Jr.
Marylist will be missed by her children, Nancy George, and L.C. George, III (Mary); two grandchildren, Alexander George (Michelle) and Bridget George (Kyle Meier); three great-grandchildren, Mason, Ashley and Connor George; and other relatives and friends.
