Muriel Martha Curry, 87, of Orrick passed away Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021, at North Kansas City Hospital.

Muriel was born on Oct. 13, 1933, in Moulton, Iowa, to Wilford Stansberry and Lucy Elizabeth (Wade) Stansberry. On Nov. 6, 1953, she was united in marriage to Floyd Emmitt (F.E.) Curry. Following their marriage, they made their home in Orrick.

Muriel was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother; and besides being a homemaker, she worked as a cook for a number of years at the Orrick schools.

She liked reading and cooking. She liked having family gatherings, going shopping and going to garage sales.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Floyd Emmitt “F.E.” Curry, on Aug. 27, 2014; her daughter, Debra Curry Hewitt in 1992; twin granddaughters, Lexi and Lillie Haddock in 2006; three brothers; and one sister.

Muriel is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Tyree Curry and wife Robin of Excelsior Springs; a daughter, Tonya Lynn Graves of Orrick; and a sister, Cheryl Holloway of Wisconsin. Also surviving are her six precious grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one greatgreat-grandchild.

Memorials are suggested to The Curry Family Scholarship Fund for Orrick High School Graduates in her memory and may be sent to The Bank of Orrick; P.O. Box 199; Orrick, MO 64077, or sent to Gowing Funeral Home; P.O. Box 169; Orrick, MO 64077.

No visitation was scheduled because of the COVID-19 virus.

Graveside services were held at noon on Saturday, Jan. 9, at Richmond Memory Gardens Cemetery in Richmond.
