Rev. Kelly O’Dell

Rev. Kelly Lee O’Dell, often known as “ Bones,” passed away Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2026, at Liberty Hospital. Visitation was scheduled for 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 11, at Bross and Spidle Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs. The funeral service was scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, also at Bross and Spidle, with the burial to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, Excelsior Springs.

Kelly was born April 7, 1965, to Lloyd and Phyllis Thompson O’Dell in Excelsior Springs.

Kelly was raised and went to school in Excelsior Springs.

He had a passion for music and played in several local bands and on the road. He eventually settled down and got married and started a family. He continued to share his love of music throughout his life.

He became a reverend and spread his love for the Lord with many and often officiated weddings of his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Mike O’Dell.

He was a father to Allan O’Dell and Cherish Holmes; stepfather to Jacob Brumley; brother to Patrick O’Dell; and a loved grandpa to Adin O’Dell, Cadence Coles, Kennedy O’Dell, Declan Piedimonte, Liam Holmes, Willow Mae Holmes and Waylon Lee O’Dell.

He was a beloved dad, grandpa, brother and friend. Arrangements: Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, 217 W. Broadway, Excelsior Springs.
