Ronald C. Dunaway
Ronald C. Dunaway, 85, of Kansas City passed away Monday, March 8, 2021, surrounded by his family.
He was born June 24, 1935, to Coy E. and Emma Mae (Stump) Dunaway.
Ronald’s working career involved importing and exporting for Midland International and Western Auto, retiring in July 1990. During his career, he traveled to the Orient more than 50 times, making many new friends. He had numerous stories to tell.
After retirement, he built an in-home business repairing clocks. He made countless new friends through his clock shop. He was a master at diagnosing all makes and models. His knowledge was nothing less than remarkable. He had quite the collection of unusual clocks, which he proudly displayed and showed to everyone who came through the door.
His wife of 59 years, K. Karlene, preceded him in death in April 2015.
He is survived by his daughter, Rhonda Parrett of Kansas City; son, Brad Dunaway of Excelsior Springs; grandchildren, Carrie Ryun (Mike) of Kansas City, Chris Parrett of Kansas City, Krisstyn Powell of Kansas City, Lauren Dunaway of Excelsior Springs and Samantha (Clint) Griffin, also of Excelsior Springs; great-grandchildren, Emme Ryun, Cole Ryun, Carter Blakely, Samuel Powell, Bradley Griffin, Paighton Griffin, Andy Griffin, Charlie Griffin and Hank Griffin.
Ron was dearly loved. He never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed.
Services will be Saturday, March 13, at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in the chapel. Visitation will be at 10 a.m., with a celebration of life service at 11.
Burial will be at 1 p.m. Monday, March 15, at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Lamar.
