Shirley Aull

Shirley Jane Prouty Aull, 73, passed away on June 30, 2023, at her home and has gone to be with her heavenly father. A memorial visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 25, at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs. She was born on Nov. 19, 1949, to Janet Olsen Prouty and Donald Prouty Sr. in Alexandria, S.D. Shirley was the oldest of seven children – Thomas, Donald Jr., Barb, Ervin, Joe and a baby who died shortly after birth.

In 1970, Shirley came to Excelsior Springs and lived there for the rest of her life. She met the love of her life, John Aull, in 1976, and they were married for 32 years until his death in 2011. What a reunion they must’ve had.

Shirley was employed at Gilmour for 37 years from 1976 until 2013. She loved animals, especially her horses and cats. She also loved traveling back to South Dakota to see her family, especially her sisterin- law Betty.

Shirley was of the Methodist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings and husband.

She is survived by her brother-in-law, Woody, John’s best friend, and his wife Susan; her only niece in the area, Tammy Prouty of Cameron; as well as numerous other nieces and nephews who loved her.
