William Whitworth, 65, of Excelsior Springs passed away Wednesday, Aug. 31 at St. Luke’s Plaza Hospital. Memorial services will be held from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, Sep. 13, 2022, at Bross & Spidle Funeral in Excelsior Springs, Missouri. Mr. Whitworth was born Jan. 2, 1957, in Liberty, Missouri.

William, better known as “Bill” or “Brother Bill,” spent most of his professional life traveling the country hauling freight. He loved to drive, loved talking over the CB radio, and always had a story to share about his experiences over the road. Bill enjoyed spending time with family, especially his breakfast dates with his daughter, Hope, and coffee with his mother, Nadine, when she was on this side of Heaven. What most may consider a chore, Bill also thoroughly enjoyed any chance to mow using his larger-than-needed zero turn mower that some may say he liked better than any car. Bill was also known for his presence behind the soundboard for his brother, David’s, bands. Live music was a passion of his that the entire family was able to bond over still to this day. When he was running sound you could guarantee that Bill wore a smile on his face. He will be remembered as a gentle and giving friend, a loving and protective father, and maybe even a slightly stubborn brother.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Amanda; and parents, Nadine and Junior.

Survivors include daughter, Hope; son-in-law, Derrick; grandchildren, Aislyn and Zane; brothers, Roy and David; sister, Belinda; and many nieces and nephews.
