Biermann sets high bar for Excelsior Springs girls hoopsters

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Coach J.D. Biermann has high expectations for his Tigers for the now-underway varsity girls basketball season. “We have been practicing with great intensity and focus every day, and the girls have been committed to improving every day,” Biermann said. Biermann’s squad returns the top two scorers from last season’s 7-9 team: seniors Mallory Millsap and Rylie Stottlemyre. Millsap, who averaged 10.7 points per game, will look to control the ball from the point guard and shooting guard spots. Stottlemyre, who averaged 10.2 points, six rebounds and 1.7 assists per game, will look to command an inside-out approach. “Millsap and Stottlemyre have had significant varsity experience throughout their time with the program and will be looked upon for leadership during the season,” Biermann said.
