Boys golfers look to fill void, compete in Blue Division
Excelsior Springs is facing some challenges this spring in varsity boys golf.
One challenge is filling the void left by state qualifier Ethan Edwards, who graduated last May. Without Edwards, the Tigers “have a very young group that will look to make improvements throughout the year, and that will be a stepping stone for us,” coach David Stalder said.
But the Tigers have three returning varsity players: Ryan Gluhm, Jacob Schmidt and Gage Simmons. Gluhm, the lone senior, is expected to have a great season.
Schmidt and Simmons are juniors. Schmidt was a 2022 all-conference selection.
Stalder also is looking at junior Cade Leonhard, and sophomores Landon Biermann and Trent Craven to step up and be a part of the varsity squad.
