Carlyle hones skills in summer softball
Chloe Carlyle is spending nearly every weekend this summer in a familiar place: on a softball field.
Carlyle, a two-time letter winner in softball at Excelsior Springs High School who catches and is an outfielder for coach Megan Rawie, plays for the 18-and-under Mayhem team. She does much of the catching for the club, playing on fields around the Midwest. Mayhem also plays from mid- to late October after high school softball finishes until almost Thanksgiving.
“Playing for the school brings a sense of pride that is hard to duplicate,” Carlyle said. “Playing for my competitive softball team, though, brings more of a natural bond because we play together more and we seem to all be working towards the same goal.”
Carlyle will return to high school softball in August, when fall sports practices begin, per Missouri State High School Activities Association regulations. She’ll return to a program that reached the Class 4 District 8 titl...
