RICHMOND – Excelsior Springs girls golf coach David Stalder liked the way his Tigers competed last weeked in the Odessa Par 3 Shootout at Shirkey Golf Course in Richmond to open the season.

The Tigers shot a 324 as a team, 15 strokes behind the winner, Boonville.

“The ladies came out and played well, considering the heat and it was the first time out this year,” coach David Stalder said.

Senior Hope Chappel, a returning state qualifier, led the Tigers, shooting a 75 (+4) for the 18-hole, par-72 round. Senior Amanda Pranke finished fifth overall, shooting an 80 (+9); followed by junior Kailey Sejkora, who shot an 83 (+12) to finish seventh overall.

Sophomore Olivia Kelley finished eighth, shooting an 86 (+15), followed by junior Lainey Creason, who shot an 87 (+16) for ninth; and junior Bella Pennington, who placed 15th with a 95 (+24).
