EXCESLIOR SPRINGS – The Tigers faced their share of larger schools when they played last week in the Northland Baseball Tournament. Excelsior Springs, a Class 4 program, took on four Class 6 schools in the varsity tournament, going 1-3, with a matchup with Fort Osage postponed until this week. The Tigers opened April 12 with a 9-2 road victory over Oak Park. Excelsior Springs took control with three runs in the fourth inning and three more in the fifth. They added a run in the sixth and two more in the seventh to finish their scoring. Sophomore Brendan Blackburn led Excelsior Springs offensively with two hits and three runs scored.
