CONTENDER Lane Overholtzer contended for a state title in boys golf this week.The Excelsior Springs junior placed eighth at the Class 3 state tournament, held Monday and Tuesday at the Sedalia Country Club. Overholtzer shot a 149 overall – eight strokes behind individual co-champions Harper Elliott of Springfield Catholic and Houston Tiefenbrunn of St. Francis Borgia.Overholtzer shot a 74 (+4) for his first 18-hole, par-70 round. He shot a 75 (+5) Tuesday.Overholtzer was one of two golfers representing Excelsior Springs.
