NEW ERA Aaron Rodenberg began his varsity 8-man football coaching career at Orrick with a win.

Rodenberg formally made his debut with the Bearcats Aug. 28, when Orrick downed Northland Christian 3428 on the road. The Bearcats overcame a 28-0 halftime deficit to get the win for Rodenberg.

“We came out a little flat in the first half,” he stated Tuesday via email. “First-game jitters, I think, made us a little timid going into the game. We challenged the boys at halftime to not hang their heads and to keep battling. There was lots of football to be played. All we needed to do was chip away piece by piece, gain the momentum and the game was still in reach.”

Offensively, Gage Tebbe led Orrick to the comeback victory by completing nine of 15 passes overall for 139 yards and three touchdowns. The senior’s passing stat line also included two interceptions.
