Collins keeps undefeated streak going
Cooper Collins can’t be defeated.Or at least he hasn’t been defeated this varsity boys wrestling season.The Excelsior Springs junior is 29-0 entering Saturday’s tournament at Oak Grove. That stretch includes a 4-0 run Feb. 1 at The Showdown in Joe Town, held at the St. Joseph Civic Arena. In going undefeated at St. Joseph, Collins won the 138-pound division title and helped the Tigers place third in the team standings with 162.5 points.Collins was one of two Excelsior Springs champions. Senior Ryne Marcum (25-6) won the 144 title.The Tigers also produced three runnersup: Logan Bates, Justin Wright and Carson VanDoremalen. Bates, a first-year high schooler, placed second at 113.
