Collins places second
Austin Collins has a near-perfect record in varsity boys singles tennis matches this season.The Excelsior Springs senior had dropped only one match entering four team duals slated for this week. That defeat occurred April 16 at the annual Excelsior Springs Tournament, where he finished second. Collins went 3-0 in No. 1 singles pool play before falling in the championship match.Collins was one of two Excelsior Springs entrants to place second. Seniors Owen Peterson and Jack Dearing were runners-up in the No. 1 doubles division, going 3-0 in pool play and then falling to Warrensburg in championship play.Grayson Grove placed fourth in the No. 2 singles division. Grove, a senior, went 2-1 in pool play and dropped his third-place match.The doubles team of Noah Dunker and fellow first-year high schooler Tyler Wartner placed fifth in the No. 2 doubles division....
