Crowley makes his mark on gridiron, wrestling mat
Lane Crowley is looking to make his final high school boys wrestling season at Excelsior Springs memorable.
The senior is eyeing his second trip to state competition as the Tigers prepare to open their regular season with a Nov. 29 dual with visiting St. Joseph Central. In 2022, he qualified for Class 2 state competition in the 220-pound division as a sophomore – his first year of wrestling. Seeded sixth in his district tournament, Crowley fought his way through the bracket to finish third place and secure his trip to Columbia.
“Qualifying for the state tournament has been my favorite memory in high school,” he said.
Wrestling is one of two high school sports Crowley has pursued at Excelsior Springs. Recently, he finished his final season of varsity 11-man football. He became a starting lineman for the Tigers his sophomore year.
Crowley intends to work in the electrical field after graduating in May 2024. He expects “to miss the guys that I have played sports with” when he leaves…
