EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Tigers held their end-of-season banquet for varsity baseball just before one end-ofseason honor was announced: Lucas Dillman’s all-state selection. The sophomore first baseman and pitcher was a first-team, Class 4 all state selection by the Missouri High School Baseball Coaches Association. Dillman’s batting stats were probably key to influencing the association’s decision. He led the Tigers in the triple-crown categories of batting average, .400; home runs, two; and RBIs, 23. When playing first base, Dillman was credited with a .980 fielding percentage, committing just three errors on the season. He also saved numerous runs with his ability to dig the baseball out of the dirt on potentially bad throws from the infield to first. “Lucas was a model of consistency for our team this year,” Excelsior Springs coach Aaron Holst said. “He collected hits in 21 of our 31 games, with 12 of those being multi-hit ...
