Edwards paces Tigers at tournament and triangular
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Senior Ethan Edwards led Excelsior Springs on the links last week.
Edwards was the varsity boys golf team’s top finisher at both the Winnetonka Tournament, held March 29 at the Hodge Park Golf Course in Kansas City; and in a March 30 triangular, hosted by the Tigers.
Edwards helped Excelsior Springs finish fifth in the team standings at the Winnetonka Tournament, shooting an 86 (+15) for the 18-hole, par-71 round that involved negotiating wooded areas, three lakes and a creek. He, senior Eli Smith and sophomore Jacob Schmidt received individual medals, with Edwards placing sixth, Smith finishing seventh with an 87 (+16) and Smith taking 15th with a 97 (+26). It was Smith’s best round of the year.
In other Excelsior Springs tournament results, junior Ryan Gluhm shot a 100 (+29) to finish in a tie for 17th and senior Colin Borchert shot a 107.
