~ Landon Clark Excelsior Springs varsity baseball coach Aaron Holst and his boys got what they wanted: the top seed in the Class 4 District 13 Tournament. “Honestly, it was kind of nice – we didn’t even have to vote on it,” Holst said May 4 several hours after the seeding meeting. Coaches of the other district schools generally agreed Excelsior Springs deserved the top seed in part because of the ballclub’s strength of schedule, according to Holst. They agreed the school plays perhaps the most challenging schedule of any Missouri Class 4 program, he said. “I’ve always felt there’s a lot to be said for that,” Holst said. Other points in Excelsior Springs’ favor were its number of “good résumé wins” and total wins, Holst said.
