ES boys hoopsters drop two
Excelsior Springs ran into two hotshooting offenses last week in varsity boys basketball.
First, the Excelsior Springs boys faced undefeated Winnetonka on Dec. 11, falling 81-17. Then, on Dec. 13, they faced Plattsburg in a tussle of teams nicknamed the Tigers, falling 58-30. Both losses were on the road.

Winnetonka shot 40 percent from the field in downing Excelsior Springs. By comparison, Excelsior Springs shot 20 percent.
Turnovers hurt Excelsior Springs in the Greater Kansas City Suburban Conference-Blue Division defeat. Excelsior Springs committed 41 turnovers, with Winnetonka scoring 50 points off those turnovers.
The Excelsior Springs boys opened with a two-point bucket by senior Ziha Hyche -- their last field goal of the first quarter. The Griffins then took control with a 21-0 run. Excelsior Springs added a free throw late in the quarter.
