ES boys netters cap season with BBQ, banquet

To formally cap the boys tennis season, Excelsior Springs coach Richie Marsh and his Tigers celebrated with some barbecue.
Feasting on pulled pork and turkey provided by Wabash BBQ, along with side dishes and desserts provided by their parents, the Tigers staged their end-of-season banquet Tuesday at the high school. The event included praises by Marsh for his team.
“We have had a special group of kids this year, especially seniors, who have done a great job of leading the way for the younger ones in the program,” he said.
The seniors’ perseverance through the last four years in dealing with and bouncing back from the COVID pandemic made the program into what it became this season, Marsh said. It’ll be difficult to replace them, he acknowledged.
