Excelsior Springs is off to a near-perfect start in varsity boys wrestling – at least where duals are concerned. The Tigers were 3-1 in duals following Tuesday’s home quadrangular with Cameron, Maysville and Pleasant Hill. Those wins included their Nov. 29 season opener, in which they strung together five consecutive wins at the end to pull away from visiting St. Joseph Central 54-27. CENTRAL RESULTS Excelsior Springs fell behind early against St. Joe Central. Jason Besherse opened for the Tigers at 165 pounds, dropping his match with Ayden Graf by second-period fall. Sophomore Britton Baker jumped out to a lead on Daniel Lemley but had to concede by injury default at 175. Junior Anthony Circo then lost by second-period fall at 190 to Jacob Poet. The Tigers answered with four straight victories. Senior Lane Crowley got a first-period pin of Logan Judd at 215. Junior Justin Wright followed that by pinning Jonas Perez at 285.
