ES girls defeat Savages; fall to Wildcats
Excelsior Springs varsity girls soccer coach Brett McKenzie and his Tigers were looking to get back above .500 this week.The girls were 6-6 entering Tuesday’s Greater Kansas City Suburban Conference-Blue Division road meeting with Grandview. A split of two games last week put them at .500. They defeated Savannah 6-2 April 21 at Tiger Stadium, then lost to Harrisonville 2-0 April 24 on the road.Excelsior Springs had to rally from an early deficit to defeat Savannah, as the Savages took the opening lead in the seventh minute. Gracie Carder equalized it by finishing a corner kick in the 37th minute.The Tigers struck twice during the 40th minute to go up 3-1 at halftime.
